Edward Warren Knowles, II (also known as “Dadward”)

Edward Warren Knowles, II (“Ed”) passed away on October 30, 2023 at age 73 in Florida. He loved living in Florida as well as all of the other places that he lived, including Vermont; New Jersey and his beloved, New York City. Ed will always be cherished and remembered for his wit, charm, discipline and ability to bring out the best in others.

He was a dedicated husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. Ed was born in Rockville Center, New York to Edward and Frances (Bauer) Knowles. He attended Lynbrook High School on Long Island and the City University of New York. He enlisted in the Navy and eventually became a medic with the Marines. He developed an interest in Real Estate Property Management and ultimately found his place with Glenwood Management, a private real estate developer, owner and manager specialising in luxury apartment rentals in New York City. He diligently worked for the company for over 36 years and was known as “Fast Eddie” because he was always one to get things done right and quickly (His “lists” were legendary). He was proud of his achievements as a Vice President for the company, coordinating openings of some of the finest luxury buildings in New York City, special projects and managing and mentoring employees.

He loved working there and many people at the company became a second family to him.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Urszula, and sons Alexander and Edward of Vermont and Florida; daughter Dawn of Iowa; son Robert of New York; sisters Virginia and Veronica and brothers-in-law James, Janusz, Christopher and Andrew.  He was proceeded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Adam.

A Memorial Mass and Life Celebration Luncheon will be held in January in New York City. Charitable contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to Vets Returning Home, 17995 E. 11 Mile Rd., Roseville, MI 48066 OR Burr and Burton Academy, P.O. Box 498, Manchester, VT 05254.

The Knowles family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for furthering Ed’s joy for life, passion for humor and lifting people up!

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Dear Ursula, Eddy and Alex, you have my deepest condolences. We absolutely loved and adored Ed and will miss him dearly. He was one of the most generous men I have ever known. He was also so much fun to be with and I will always be grateful for all of the time we spent together in NYC. Ed was also a friend you could call when you needed help. He was always quick to help and was knowledgeable about so may things. But what I will remember the most was how much he loved and cherished all of you. You three were his pride, joy and home he loved so much. We loved him and will remember him always. May his memory be a blessing. Love to all of you, Davida, Rana, Anna and Ava.
