Dear Ellis…Precisely 50 years ago on Monday, August 2, 1971, you were with me in Washington, D.C. as my chaperone and coach when I won the All-America Youth Bowling Championships. I achieved this milestone after having received much instruction and guidance from you throughout the years 1970-1971 while you were manager of Coliseum Lanes in Coral Gables, Florida. I wanted to honor you and thank you today for having inspired my many bowling successes, and for having been so encouraging of me as a young man…and I apologize for not having been able to give you my many thanks in person after I left for college in 1972 and, for many reasons, never returned to Miami. You said some very praising things of me to The Miami Herald a number of times during those years, and you helped me so much in becoming a fine young man and adult with your mentoring and support. Thank you for all that you were (and are) to me as I recall some very happy moments 50 years ago, shared together in triumph. For those who read this and may wish to reach me, please do so at: raymondlboeri@gmail.com…I’d love to hear from you…
