Elsie passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017. She was born at home on a farm in Harrow, PA. The youngest of five children she was born with a strong, feisty, hardworking farm girl work ethic. After attending local school and working at Fretz’s trouser factory she married Robert J. (Fuzzy) Reading. They moved to Lambertville, NJ. where she worked at Del Vu Dry Cleaners as a presser.
Elsie was a member of the Hibernia Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed boating on the Delaware River. Robert and Elsie raised three children; Thomas, Wanda (High), and Robert in Lambertville.
After her husband’s death, Elsie moved to Vero Beach, FL to be closer to her family. She was employed by Publix in their bakery department at the Ryanwood plaza until her retirement in 2002. She loved her customers and coworkers.
Preceded in death by her parents, William and Scedillia (Haney) Luhrs, sisters Bertha and Addie and brother William, grandson Bryce R. High, and son Thomas F. Survivors include her sister Marion Buck and family, daughter Wanda and Franklin (Buddy) High and grandson Cory, son Robert Jr and granddaughter Cheyenne, grandson Eric and Robin, great-grandson Jason and great-granddaughter Haley.
A private ceremony will be held by the family at a later date.
