Squire, Florence Townsend, died October 15, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was 92.

Mrs. Squire, also known as “Flossie,” was born in Yonkers, New York on July 5, 1930 to Charles Henry Townsend and his wife, Helen K. Townsend.

In 1943 she moved to Hastings-on-Hudson, New York and graduated from Hastings High School.

She married Robert A. Squire on August 19, 1950 and moved to Burlington, Vermont where she helped him pursue his education at The University of Vermont. Ultimately, they moved to Baltimore, Maryland where her husband, Dr. Squire, joined the faculty of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

At this time Mrs. Squire attended The Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, pursuing her education in the arts. She became a prolific Potter and Quilter, and was active in several local and national art organizations, enjoying teaching at The Archbishop Keough High School.

Flossie became a permanent resident of Vero Beach in April 2003.

She was preceded in death by her husband and great granddaughter, Payson Middleton.

Survivors include Thomas A. Squire (son), Jill Squire Maynard (daughter), Rachel N. Lubold and Christina Maynard (granddaughters), Jaxon Halley and Kolton Middleton (great-grandsons).

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
