Frances Holmes Smith, age 79, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at the VNA Hospice House.
Born in Vero Beach, Florida, Fran spent her life rooted in the community she loved. She was a graduate of Vero Beach High School and dedicated over 25 years of service to Publix, where she was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and friendly spirit.
A woman of deep faith, Fran was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Sebastian. She lived simply, valuing family, faith, and caring for others above all else.
She is survived by two nephews, Jamie Coleman (Sherrie) and Charles Coleman (Bonnie), numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Fran was preceded in death by her parents, Hoke and Hazel Holmes.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, with a service immediately following at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA & Hospice Foundation, 920 37th Place #101, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
