Francis (Frank) H. Grimes, 79, of Taneytown, Maryland, suddenly passed away on Friday November 14, 2014 in his winter home in Vero Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 56 years, Marti (Martha) Grimes; his children Karen Allen (Paul), Kathy Jewell (Steven), Jean Higgins (Steve), and Bill Grimes (Pam); his beloved grandchildren Laura Allen Siegert, Brian Allen, Jackie Allen, Andrew Higgins, Kara Higgins, Eric Higgins, Dan Grimes, Jeff Grimes, and Katie Grimes; his sisters Eleanor Wise and Ann Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank was born on July 28, 1935 in Rankin, Pennsylvania, grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and relocated to Maryland where he worked for the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC.
He raised his family in Maryland City (Laurel, Maryland) where he coached several sports teams for the Maryland City Recreation League. After retirement, he and his wife split their time between homes in Taneytown, Maryland and Vero Beach, Florida.
He enjoyed traveling, bowling, and spending time with family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 2pm at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Taneytown, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
