We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of our wonderful neighbor, Fritz Hackenberg. We will miss his smile and wave from the front porch when reading the paper, as we passed him out walking “Snap” around the neighborhood, and when we enjoyed his company at neighborhood events. Our deepest sympathies go out to Joanne, Shelby and Cole on so great a loss. May they find solace in wonderful memories and in the support of family and friends. All of those who knew and loved Fritz are all in our thoughts and hearts during your time of grief. Margaret and Ken Domanski

I’ve had the pleasure of being Joanne’s friend from grade school. When Joanne married the love of her life, I was thrilled she found Fritz. Joanne and Fritz moved to Vero Beach at the same time that we moved to Vero. Little did I know I would be chilling on the beautiful Vero beach with Fritz and Joanne. We enjoyed the sea breeze and and unwinding while celebrating retirement. Fritz’s character was genuine, sincere, witty, smart, funny, and caring. Fritz, I will cherish our times together and appreciate you charming companionship.

Goodbye Fritz. I will miss you and Snap stopping at our house admiring the butterflies and insects. I will miss you sitting at the beach reading your books and always ready for a conversation. I will miss your knowledge of the oil field. I will miss the your joy when Shelby came home. I will miss seeing the fun you had playing pool basketball with Cole. I will miss talking with you and Joanne on the back porch. I will miss your beautiful smile. I will miss you Fritz!

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Fritz for over 35 years although it seems like just yesterday when we first met in the Hamptons. He was the consummate relaxed nonjudgemental gentleman who made everyone feel welcome. Fritz “made a difference” and will be greatly missed.
