Gene was a wonderful person and great engineer. Always pleasant to work with and a wealth of knowledge of Piper airplanes and engineering design. I worked with Gene at Piper in Lakeland and then in Vero Beach. More recently I enjoyed stopping by and visiting with him and taking tours of his machine shop.

My condolences to Gene’s family and friends. Gene was my first supervisor at Piper Aircraft in Vero Beach. A wonderful man to work for and a friend to the whole Piper Aircraft family. We miss him, his wisdom, and friendship.

Gene was a highly respected engineer at Piper and a very nice person to work with and for. Having worked for three different Piper divisions, he had great historical knowledge of its various aircraft types. He would occasionally bring in a small working steam engine or suchlike device that he had machined himself in his home workshop and get it chugging away. A very talented and capable gentleman.
