George William Schardt Jr. (Bill), 87, of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 23rd at the Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Bill was born in Charleston, SC on January 13, 1927 to George and Sarah Schardt and has lived in Vero Beach since 1948.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Joan MacWilliam Schardt, and four loving children, Billy Schardt (Barbara), Jenae Collins (Clay), Suzy Bloch, and Megan Hedin (Norman). Bill is also survived by his sister, Jane Burkett of Texas, and seven grandchildren, Clayton Collins, Bobby Schardt, Carrie Collins Boudrias, Michael and Matthew Bloch, Hannah and Sarah Hedin, and three great-grandchildren.
He served our country in the United States Army and was a founding member of the Vero Beach Elks Club.
Bill was President of Russell Concrete, where he worked for 38 years.
Friends may visit on Saturday, December 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A celebration of Bill’s life will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Melanoma Research Foundation or Hospice House of Vero Beach.
