Howard L. Jones, age 80, passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2018 after a brief illness.
Howard was a lifelong resident of Wabasso, Florida. He graduated from Vero Beach High School Class of 1956. Howard subsequently served 4 years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
After working forty years for the family owned Jones Groves of Wabasso and Jones Grove Service, Howard was employed by the Humane Society of Vero Beach. He thoroughly enjoyed his time there along with the camaraderie he established with the staff.
Howard was predeceased by his parents Marvin E. and Minnie B. Jones of Wabasso. In addition he was predeceased by sisters Pauline Jones, Jewell Hedberg, and Jennie Bryant; brothers Wendell Jones, Bud Jones, and Pete Jones.
Surviving family include sisters Marlene Jones and Joanne Callaghan of Vero Beach and Joyce Smith of St. Petersburg; brothers Marshall Jones of Vero Beach and Joe Jones of Winter Haven.
Howard will be missed by his loving family, nieces, nephews, friends and faithful loving dog Holly.
Family and friends are invited to join in a “Celebration of Life” memorial service for Howard on April 7, 2018 at 11AM in the Good Shepard Church of God, 4325 65th St. Vero Beach, Florida. The church is located on 65th Street between US Highway 1 and 58th Avenue in Winter Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The Humane Society of Vero Beach, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, Florida 32961.
