James F. Dalton, age 74, passed away November 28, 2017 at Sebastian River Medical Center.
He was born August 2, 1943 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Henry and Gertrude (Kilmartin) Dalton.
Jim was a graduate of St. Aloysius Academy and later attended St. Peters College in Jersey City, New Jersey where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree.
Mr. Dalton served in the United States Army as a part of the military police. He owned and operated Asphalt Marking Services. Jim retired, after 25 years, from the Jersey City Police Department motorcycle squad. After retirement, he and his wife, Barbara moved to Vero Beach, FL in 2011.
Jim was an avid golfer and spent many sunrises with his 7 AM “Sandridge Crew”. He also had a love for motorcycles. He had many of his own bikes, with the Nomad being his favorite bike.
He was a member of the Jersey City Police Benevolent Association, Jersey City Police Emerald Society, and the Disney Vacation Club.
Jim loved to spend time at Disney with his family. He enjoyed all aspects: the rides, the characters, and the joy on the faces of his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include wife, Barbara Pettit Dalton; sisters, Anne O’Brien, Rita Healy, & Mary (Mark) Hussey; brothers, John (Jane) Dalton, Vincent (Sharon) Smith, & George (Louise) Dalton; three daughters; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews who he cherished; and his fur-buddy, Kelly.
He was predeceased by brother, Robert Dalton.
A service will be held 10:00 on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, Florida.
