James (Jim) Alexander Goins, 80, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2024 in Vero Beach, FL.
Born December 9, 1943, in Maryville, Tennessee, he was the only son born to the late Ericus Goins and Emma Ivey.
He graduated from Jellico High School and then served for four years in the United States Air Force before being honorably discharged and marrying Flora, his beloved wife of 57 years.
Jim moved his family to Vero Beach in 1978 to accept a job with Florida Cablevision, which was the industry he worked in for almost all of his entire working career. Higher education was incredibly important to him and he strongly encouraged all his children to continue their education, so although he did not attend college until later in life, he was able to receive his Associates in Arts degree from Broward Community College with high honors.
He is survived by his wife Flora and their three children Michele (Chris), Eric (Tiffany), and Erin; six grandchildren Grace, James, Sarah, Preston, Caden, and Max; two step grandchildren Kayden and Alora; and his beloved dog Charlie.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elizabeth, granddaughter Shaylee Morgan, and pets Smudge and Chance.
His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a great friend to many. He was always there to give advice, as well as to share his sense of humor. He is deeply missed, although his family knows he is at home with his Heavenly Father and has no more pain and is at peace.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, July 27th, 2024 at King’s Baptist Church at 1 PM.
