On September 30, 2022, all of the alligators in Florida got a little sigh of relief as the great gator hunter, Jim Wright left for new hunting grounds.

Born in Miami (you know, close to all of the swamps), he moved to Vero Beach when he was three, where he grew up. He graduated from Vero Beach High School, before becoming a Certified General Contractor and starting his own business, Jim Wright Construction. After success in construction, he ventured into the cattle business. Eventually after being drug to many rodeos as support crew, he became a pretty handy team roper.

He was husband to Jenny, dad to Jimmy and Jennifer, and Pa to Jalyn, Jimmy, and Jarren and will be missed by all.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, 1655 27th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation. Some suggestions would be the Cajun Navy, Red Cross or the Alzheimer and Parkinson Association.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Having just been married on our way to Orlando we broke down in vero. Walked into Mrs B’s to get some lunch and find out where to buy parts. Sitting at the table , half a dozen Cowboys with Jim. Met him again the next day at an auction for a piece of property next to Bobby Ford’s we were friends ever since. He helped me build my house and my life here in Vero and will forever be thankful to him.

Have not seen Jim in years, but we do go back a long way. He built our house in the late seventies and have many good memories from our earlier years together. He was a one of a kind friend and would do anything to help you. My best memory of Jim was when he just got his first airboat. We took it out to the east marsh at night and immediately sunk the boat in the main canal. I remember telling Jim not to worry, that the running lights marked the spot under the water as he swam to shore. Rest In Peace Jim.

James was and remains a close friend. Knowing him and Jim Senior was a privilege. Growing up together. Going to St Helen and VBHS. I so enjoyed Cherry Lane. Jimmy was part of the core group of boyhood buds. We could easily get into trouble but were usually smart enough to get out. I was there to witness his wedding. You are very blessed. James Wright you ain’t far brother!
