Jean Peters Vocelle, lovingly known as Mommy Jean, age 87, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
Jean was born April 13, 1930 in Perrine, FL to John & Beverly Peters.
As an only child, she moved to Vero Beach at a young age. A graduate of Vero Beach High School, Jean was a cheerleader, homecoming queen and Ms. Vero Beach.
She was a past President of Tri Delta sorority at Florida State University and a 1952 graduate.
Mrs. Vocelle spent 30 years as a teacher for IRC School District where she not only raised her own family but the children of an entire community.
Mrs. Vocelle was a very devoted and longtime member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
She was also a member of the civic organization, Phi Beta Psi sorority.
She is survived by her children, Jim (Carla) Vocelle, John (Pam) Vocelle, Julia Vocelle and Jane (Jimmy) Moore; grandchildren, Sarah (James) Hodges, Erin (Phillip) Warren, Clayton Vocelle, Kristen (Donnie) Barstow, Lauren Vocelle, Bridget (Betsi) Kreshover, Kyle Erbe, Reed (Morgan) Moore, Tradd (Heather) Moore, and Trevor Heim; great-grandchildren, Mason, Ethan, & Brenden Warren, Eloise & Caroline Barstow, Beckett Kreshover, and Blakely & Miles Moore.
Mrs. Vocelle was predeceased by her husband, James T. Vocelle, Jr. and their daughter, Jennifer Vocelle Heim.
The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m., with an 11 a.m. Celebration of Life service to be held Saturday, April 29th at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
