It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jerome Charles Kaline, who left us peacefully on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in Miami, Florida. He was 78 years old.

Born on June 29, 1946, in Kearny, New Jersey, he moved with his family to Miami when he was a child. Jerome, known to many as Jerry, was a 1964 graduate of Archbishop Curley Notre Dame High School. His pursuit of knowledge led him to Miami Dade Community College, where he earned his Associate of Arts degree in 1966, before continuing his education at Florida State University. There, he joined a fraternity and graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Social Welfare. On May 23rd 1969, he graduated at the top of his class at the Police Academy.

Jerome dedicated 27 years of his life to serving and protecting citizens as a police officer for the City of Miami, rising through the ranks to ultimately achieve Lieutenant. He was a dedicated member of the Police Benevolent Association proudly serving as President and also served as Vice President of the Fraternal Order of Police. His commitment to sports extended to the Police Olympics, where he played softball for many years.

After his distinguished career in law enforcement, Jerome embraced his lifelong passion for the open water, obtaining his commercial fishing license. He was an avid angler, finding peace and joy out on the ocean. Beyond fishing, Jerome had a profound love for cars, especially Porsches, and was a fervent follower of sports and car racing, frequently attending FSU football games and races in Daytona and Sebring.

Above all, Jerome was a devoted family man. He shared 54 years of loving marriage with his beloved wife, Anna. He was a cherished father to his son Michael and daughter Andrea (Mario) , and an adored grandfather to Alexis, Lucas, Logan, and Samantha. He also leaves behind his loving sister, Marilyn. Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Evelyn.

Jerome will be remembered as a loving husband, a dedicated father, a protective grandfather, and a loyal friend. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Nicholas Melkite Catholic Church, 5715 Lake Ida Road, Delray Beach, FL 33484, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens & Mausoleum, S Kanner Hwy, Stuart, FL 34994.

I’m sitting here reflecting on who I saw Jerry (my brother in-law) to be as he journeyed this life. What came to mind was a man of passion. Aside from his passion for his family, whom he loved and provided for, here is what I remember: Jerry was passionate about being a police offer, I am sure he had many a times thinking what am I doing, but he loved protecting, he had a passion for FSU football, having season tickets, going to all the home games for many years, he had a passion for Car Racing, going to many events in Daytona and Sebring, he had a passion for fishing and shrimping, he had a passion for cooking at family and other gatherings they had at their house. While I don’t profess to know all of his passions, this is how I will remember him. Jerry, you’ve been through a lot these last several years, the hope is in what Saint Paul says in the book of Romans 8:18 “I consider that the suffering of this present time are as nothing compared with the Glory to be revealed for us.”. Rest in the peace of the Kingdom of Heaven. May his memory be eternally within all who knew and loved him. Anna, Michael, Andrea, may the Peace of our Lord, who was the first to Rise so that we too may rise, guide you through this trial and all that your path may have. Love your brother and Uncle, Vinnie.
