John Henry “Farrell” Anderson, a retired aircraft mechanic with Vought Aircraft Industries and a life long resident of Vero Beach, Florida was welcomed into the Lord’s arms on May 1, 2020 at the age of 81.

Farrell was born in Vero Beach, Florida, August of 1938 to John Henry Anderson and Olive Florida Sapp.  Farrell was a graduate of Vero Beach High School and held positions as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement from Vought Aircraft Industries in 2003.

Farrell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Mae Anderson (Justice); his children, son Donnie Anderson (James) of Kissimmee, Florida; son Darin (Valerie) Anderson of Vero Beach, Florida; daughter Eddina (Benjamin) Syrkus of Palm Bay; his grandchildren, Dylan Anderson, James Raulerson, and Keith Raulerson; sisters Susan L. Thomas, Carolyn Heilman, Barbara Smith, Diane Jaggers, and brother JD Anderson. Farrell was preceded by his sisters: Kossette Anderson, Olive Hamilton, Lomey Lane; brothers: Phillip Anderson, Gerald Anderson, and Lodney Anderson.

Farrell was a follower of Christ and a faithful member of 20th Avenue Church of God. He was a devoted loving husband and hard working provider for his family. Though Farrell was very soft spoken and reserved, anyone who knew him would come to realize he was a dependable and very caring man.

When his sons were young, Farrell coached their little league baseball teams and he was also a fan of the Red Sox. Farrell was a constant at the Fighting Indians Friday night football games. He would root for any Florida college football team, unless they were an opponent of the Florida Gators. Farrell was also an avid fan of Nascar, specifically drivers Dale Earnhardt Sr & Jr. Though he did enjoy sports, Farrell often found joy in what most would consider a tedious activity, washing a car. Every Saturday without fail, or unless it rained, Farrell could be found contently and meticulously washing his and Shirley’s vehicles. Farrell’s week always concluded with church service, family dinner and ultimately sinking into his recliner with remote in hand.

Farrell will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. We can be comforted by God’s Word….“ We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (KJV 2 Corinthians 5:8)

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be gifted in Farrell’s name to: The 20th Avenue Church of God, 775 20th Avenue, Vero Beach, Floirda 32962

A Celebration of Life date will be forth coming, the family will notify accordingly.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
