John Peter Coatti died peacefully March 5, 2019 in Vero Beach, Florida at the age of 79.
John was born October 22, 1939 in Nyack, New York. He is predeceased by his parents, Angelina and Modesto and his nephew Matthew.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Patricia, his three daughters Susan, Lisa and Pamela and their mother Sam, two step daughters Kim and Karen and his sons-in-law, Paul, Bob, Mark and Mark, his sister Patricia, brother-in-law Dan, and nephew Christopher. He adored his 11 grandchildren, Sara, Bryan, Heather, Ryan, Lexi, Megan, Kevin, Benjamin, Madeline, Elisabeth and Charlie.
John was a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Navy stationed at the Pentagon where he developed his interest in technology. He went on to work at IBM during the time when mainframe computers took up the size of a room. He eventually started his own successful computer consulting business.
John lived his life to the fullest in everything he did. His passion was woodworking, gardening, building, home improvement and photography. As a certified Master Gardener he was the President of Mounts Botanical Garden in West Palm Beach. John was a builder of communities and loved to bring people together. He loved to cook and entertain; dinners in Manchester with the extended family, Kentucky Derby parties, or last-minute invites for a cocktail, he loved it all.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, 1655 27th St., Vero Beach FL. An additional life celebration will be held later in Connecticut.
