Joseph (Joe) U. Landry was born in New Brunswick, Canada on October 20, 1924 and lived a full and rich life before his passing on Sunday, May 17, 2015. He died peacefully at home.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty E. Landry of Vero Beach, daughters Linda Dunham of Vero and Heidi Jordan Landry of Ripon, Wisconsin, grandchildren Anna, Amber, Hector and Phoenix Landry, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and all his sisters and brothers.
Joe Landry was a World War II Naval veteran, serving on the heavy cruiser USS Boston. He then worked for Thom McAn Shoes in Athol, Massachusetts for 33 years before moving to Vero Beach in 1979 and working for John’s Island for another 29 years. He retired in 2008.
He was a member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. A memorial service will be held there at a later date.
His family and friends will miss his great sense of humor and his storytelling abilities along with his zest for life and generous spirit.
