Judith “Judy” Katherine Peter, 85, of Vero Beach, Florida – formerly of Lake Forest, Illinois- passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach, Florida. Her family and friends are deeply saddened by her sudden death.

Judy was born on June 17, 1940, in Highland Park, to her beloved parents Victor and Hilga Irene Glader. Survived by her loving husband George Peter of over 66 years, a loving mother of four daughters: Jean Butler, Becky Picchietti (Jimmy), Connie Warnke, and Stacy White (Jeff). Proud and loving grandmother to eight grandchildren: Jeremy Butler (Chelsea), Brittney Butler, Andy Picchietti, Tyler and Trevor Warnke, Holly and Jake White. Three great grandchildren: Addie, Callie and Emmie Butler. Judy was preceded in death by her grandson, Tommy Picchietti.

Judy lived a life defined by faith, kindness, and service. She was known for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and joyful sense of humor. She was a shining light to all who knew her and was truly a sweetheart! She made sure her family felt loved, supported, and put everyone else above herself, all while maintaining her health with daily exercise and nutrition.

Judy dedicated herself to her church, volunteer work, her children’s schools, a girl scout leader, and later to the family business she and George built together with their four daughters in Lake Forest, Peter’s Shell and Mini Mart. She loved to play tennis, golf, adventures of fishing, and active with the Lake Forest Boat Club. She loved to play games, especially cards, bridge with girlfriends, cribbage with her family, and was a great cook, creating traditions that will live on through generations she cherished so deeply. In 2001, Judy and George moved permanently to Vero Beach, Florida. Judy was the Treasurer of Island Club, their home for many years. She was a member and volunteer at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, enjoyed attending events at the Riverside Theater, and cherished time with family and friends. Her legacy of love, faith, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. And as Judy would say “Too-DA-Loo”

Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Community Church of Vero Beach, in the chapel. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories in honor of Judy’s incredible Christian life.

Judy Peter was an exceptional, loving person who shared her love with everyone she met. She loved God as she cherished her family. We were very privileged to know her, George, and their loving children and their families. We will miss her smiling face and kind approach to those she met and made welcome.
