Mary Katherine �Kay� Solsberry, 88, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on January 8, 2014 after a brief illness, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Kay was born in Flat River, Missouri on September 27, 1925 and graduated from Flat River High School in 1942. She married Victor �Gene� Solsberry on September 5, 1948. She raised her children in Washington, Missouri, Columbus, Ohio, Springfield, Missouri, and Chicago, Illinois before becoming a permanent resident of Vero Beach in 1980.
Kay was owner/operator of Kay�s Antiques in Long Grove, Illinois from 1977 � 1980. She was co-owner of Indian River Ace Hardware, which was located at 1960 44th Avenue in Vero Beach, from 1980 – 1997.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband Gene Solsberry in 2010; her son Richard A. Solsberry in 2009; and daughter Victoria Solsberry in 2013.
She is survived by her son; David Solsberry (Heather) of Vero Beach, Florida, grandchildren; Richard B. Solsberry (Casey Amanda) of Richmond, Texas, Daniel Solsberry of Arlington, Virginia, and Michael Solsberry of Alexandria, Virginia’ great-grandchildren; Katherine �Katy Beth� and Logan Solsberry of Richmond, Texas, and caregivers/surrogate family members Mary Powell and Carol Carter of Vero Beach, Florida.
Kay was a longtime member of First Church of God, 1105 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32966. A memorial service will be confirmed and announced at a later date. Please revisit the website for updated service information.
