Michael Thomas “Mike” Lucardi, 94, of North Hutchinson Island Florida, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in hospice care at the Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach.

Born on March 20, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, Mike later made his home in West Nyack, New York, before retiring to Ft Pierce/Vero Beach Florida. Even though he left Brooklyn in his 20s, the life of the borough never left him—the colorful Italian neighborhood where he grew up and the deep family bonds he formed there remained with him throughout his life.

He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War and went on to dedicate his career to the New York City Fire Department. Mike cherished the camaraderie of the firehouse, where he was known for his cooking as much as his bravery and commitment to helping others.

Beyond his service, Mike enjoyed softball, bowling, golf, and was always ready to fix things around the house or lend a helping hand. He had a passion for travel and especially loved going on cruises to see the world. Las Vegas was another favorite destination, where blackjack was his game of choice. Mike was also a wonderful dancer who lit up the dance floor with his joy and energy. Though he could be strong-willed, he was also warm, funny, and full of life, and he left lasting memories with everyone he knew.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Rose Lucardi, who passed away in 1989. Mike was fortunate to share more than 30 wonderful years with his caring and compassionate companion, Diane Johnson, and he was deeply involved in the lives of her daughters, Heather and Yvonne, with whom he shared many cherished memories.

He is survived by his two sons, Donald Lucardi (Owen Condon) of New York City and Thomas Lucardi of Briarcliff Manor, New York.

A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Mike’s legacy lives on most strongly through his two sons, Donald and Thomas, who were his greatest pride.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
