Neil Duffy passed in peace on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Neil was born on Mothers Day, May 9, 1936. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia (Ginny) Duffy with whom he shared 50 wonderful years. Neil will be forever missed by his daughters; Jennifer Duffy Bookstaver and Vanessa Duffy; Vanessas husband, Martin OSullivan and he will never be forgotten by his 6 beautiful grandchildren Caroline, Isabel, Emily, Neil, Ryan and Brendan. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law Eileen Komst, and brother-in-law Terry Komst and wife, Gail and Neils sister-in-law Doree Guthrie and her husband Roddy. Neil Duffy was a true New Yorker that lived a very colorful life. He served in both the Marine Corps and then the US Army in Germany. He was a lifelong member of Union Local 638 and founded his own successful company Penn Metro Mechanical, NYC.
Neil married the love of his life and was a dedicated family man. He encouraged and supported his daughters to be the best they could be. They attribute their strong sense of work ethic to his drive in continuing to better their family. Neils greatest joy was the time he spent with his beloved grandchildren. His family and friends will forever miss his storytelling, Irish wit and the sound of his laughter.

My deepest sympathy to Mrs. Duffy and family. I met Mr. Duffy at HealthSouth were I work as a CNA. Neil, as he insisted we call him, was a wonderful and caring man. A true role model and worked very hard to do the best he could. He wrote us a thoughtful & long letter after he left that moved several of us to tears, regarding his stay and about the employees who assisted him. At “karaoke/singalong” Saturday, he loved the song by Mercy Me, “I can only Imagine.” I truly believe he does not have to anymore. Great man, may he rest in peace with the Lord.

Neil Duffy was a big man with a bigger heart and a wonderful smile. He always made people smile with his charming personality. Neil loved to play tennis ….. He was a joy to play with. I will remember his competitive ways, which helped everyone play better. And, at the end of every endeavor …… Everyone smiled. You could not help it if you with him. He made life more fun. The world was a better place because of him. Thanks for everything Neil! You were a special friend. Sylvia
