Norma Shawker Jordan died peacefully on June 7, 2014, surrounded by loving family and aided by the gentle and compassionate care of the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. Norma was born in Baltimore, MD, on September 1, 1925, to N. Calvin and Gladys Shawker. She graduated from Catonsville High School and attended Business College while working at Westinghouse, as part of the war effort of WW II, while she waited for the return of her beloved future husband, Leon H. Jordan, who was serving in Europe with the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. After their marriage in 1946, they raised their five children in Atlanta, GA. Her employment there included working in the credit department of Rich�s Department store. Later in her life, she retired after 21 years in the Baltimore County Schools as a registrar at Woodlawn Senior High.
Norma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 2 of Maryland, and a lifelong member of Arbutus United Methodist Church. Norma loved the wonders of nature, the beauty of the skies, and derived much joy from being actively involved in the lives and accomplishments of her children and 10 grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their families: Linda Poag of Vero Beach; Vera Litvack (Danny) of Vero Beach; Barry Jordan of Buena Vista, GA; Brenda Candeloro of Hanover, PA and Dallas, TX; Craig Jordan of Warner Robbins, GA, and her cousin Al German of Ellicott City, MD. She was predeceased by her parents, her former husband Leon, and beloved family and friends.

Funeral services and burial will be handled by Hubbard Funeral Home in Baltimore, MD.
