Onorato Lawrence �Larry� Orticelli, age 72, passed away on August 6, 2015 at Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL from complications after a recent surgery.
He was born February 16, 1943 in Danbury, Connecticut.
Larry served in the United States Army Reserve in the Vietnam Conflict and was a graduate of Western Connecticut and Fairfield University. He taught in Ridgefield and New Canaan up until his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Orticelli loved music and enjoyed playing guitar and often wrote music. He was an artist and cook. Larry wrote poetry and was a gardener who loved the outdoors. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. A beautiful video was filmed to show Larry�s love of music and to show how music therapy helped him. It can be seen at
Larry is survived by his wife, Mary Della Paris Orticelli; daughter, Marlene Orticelli of Vero Beach, FL; grandson, Beckham; and granddaughter, Reese both of Chandler, AZ. He was predeceased by son, Michael Orticelli of Mesa, AZ.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice House of Vero Beach for such amazing care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
