Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Pauline Rae Keller, 89, peacefully left us on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Vero Beach.
We did not lose her she just went on ahead of us.
Her verse she left behind for us as we grieve:
Miss Me but Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom- filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
And not with your heads bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss Me but Let Me Go
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 14, 1924.
Pauline, a very busy Mom raising three children, was very active in her church and her sorority. She loved playing pinochle with her many girlfriends.
In spite of her already full schedule, she chose to go to nursing school and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a career that she enjoyed for many years.
Pauline married Paul Keller, an artist illustrator for Ford Motor Company, and they lived in Dearborn Heights, Michigan for many years. They spent weeks camping and boating with her sister and brother-in-law.
Upon retirement, they bought a motorhome and spent several years traveling the U.S. This was the epitome of a perfect retirement, which she loved sharing their adventures and fond memories with friends and family.
Eventually, they settled into their home in the Molokai Community of Leesburg, FL. They loved this home where Paul did his painting, gardening and where Pauline continued her active life cross stitching, playing bingo, pot luck dinners, womens club projects.
Polly was always free-spirited–ready to go somewhere anywhere any time!
As time passed, they relocated to CA to be closer to their children. They continued the lifestyle they enjoyed, with fine weather, many community happenings, and even more cross stitching!
They were given a gift that did not please Paul at first Pepper the cat. It wasnt long though before Pepper became Pauls best friend too.
In later years, Pauline returned to Molokai Community in Leesburg where she and Pepper lived for a couple years. Unfortunately, ill health took her and Pepper to retirement at Florida Baptist Retirement Center in Vero Beach, FL. Even that, however, did not slow her down. She continued her active life–enjoying church, playing Bingo and word games in the clubhouse, and going on outings, lunches, the beach, plays and, of course, shopping. She always loved dressing up and making sure her jewelry matched!
Pauline is predeceased by her devoted husband, Paul Keller, a WWII Coast Guard Veteran.
She is survived by a brother Robert of Virginia, a sister Virginia of Michigan, a daughter Candice of Florida, a son Dennis of Arizona, and her youngest son, Jim, who lives in Dalian, China. She was a loving Grandma to seven grandchildren and a Great-Grandma to six great grandchildren.
Her private nurse Kim Feigen of Vero Beach, was a blessing and Pauline loved her dearly.
Pauline is now with her loving husband in their final resting place at Bushnell National Cemetery. She will be loved and missed forever.
