Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Raymond D.W. Harpin, who left this world on June 25, 2025, surrounded by love and memories that will carry on for generations. A proud Army veteran, fiercely loyal father, and devoted friend, he lived a life full of purpose, passion, and service.
Born in Pensacola, Florida, and raised in Key West, Ray proudly served in the United States Army, traveling the world and dedicating himself to a country he deeply loved. His military service was one of his proudest accomplishments, and his final resting place will be among fellow heroes at Arlington National Cemetery.
A lifelong hard worker with a sharp wit and unmatched determination, he passed down his grit, drive, and sarcasm to his daughters. He never met a stranger and had an incredible gift for conversation—always finding a way to connect, to help, and to leave people better than he found them. He gave of himself constantly, including through years of donating blood and plasma—one of the many quiet, generous ways he made a difference.
Ray adored his family deeply, even when life was messy or complicated. His loyalty never wavered. He showed his love through action, protection, and presence—and his pride in his daughters, though not always spoken in words, was always felt.
He is survived by his wife, Rita Harpin; his daughters, Suzanne Thrasher (and daughter-in-law Alexis Thrasher) and Kelly Harpin; his stepson; his brothers, Pat Harpin, Rick Harpin, and Robert Harpin; sisters-in-law Marilyn Harpin and Jennifer Harpin; and many beloved nieces and nephews: Bobby Harpin, Cindy Klotz, Patrick Harpin, Anthony Harpin, Joseph Harpin, Caitlyn Harpin, and Sam Harpin, as well as many second and third nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold Robert Harpin and Margaret Elaine Harpin; his brothers, William (Billy) Harpin and Paul Harpin; and his niece, Michelle Ruiz-Rivera.
Those who knew him will never forget his unmistakable laugh, his classic grin, and his deep, unwavering sense of duty to those he loved.
A celebration of life will be planned, and details regarding services and burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
In honor of his legacy, the family encourages those who are able to donate blood or plasma—an act that reflects his quiet, consistent commitment to helping others.
“Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Make the memories, say the things, live fully—you never know when it’ll be the last chance.”
