Richard Wayne Pierce, age 80, passed away at his home in Vero Beach, FL on Sunday, March 3, 2024, after a brief illness.
He was born in Detroit, MI, the only child of Robert and Virginia Pierce. He grew up in the Detroit area, and attended college at Michigan Tech in Houghton, MI, where he met the love of his life, Christina. Rich and Chris were married, becoming partners in life and love for over 60 years. They moved from Detroit to the Chicago area, where they raised their daughter, Cindy. Rich studied for and obtained his master’s degree in accounting from Governor’s State University in University Park, IL. After Cindy went to college, Rich and Chris relocated to the Cleveland area.
When he retired from Sedlak Management Consultants in Cleveland, Rich and Chris spent time exploring the East coast and the Bahamas on their sailboat, Tardis. They eventually settled on land in Vero Beach, and traded their boat for an RV. They enjoyed traveling the country with Max, their standard poodle. In his retirement, Rich also cultivated his love of all things fast, riding motorcycles and tooling around town in his turbocharged Mini Cooper. When he did slow down, he created beautiful pottery alongside Chris in their home studio, coming to share his wife’s passion for the arts.
Rich was a member of the United Methodist Church and has served as a deacon in the church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Pierce and father, Robert Pierce, both of Vero Beach, FL.
Surviving family includes his wife, Christina, daughter Cynthia (Pierce) Leo, son in law Terrence Leo, and granddaughter, Zoe Leo, all of whom hold Rich close in their hearts now and forever.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
