Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Robert Bruce Knight passed away on November 7, 2017 after loving life and living it to the fullest for 101 years. Everyone was always delighted to see him and he was always delighted to see everyone. He made the world a better and happier place.
Born January 8, 1916 in Detroit the son of Alvin Bruce Knight a leading engineer in Detroit who’s steam heat is still in use and to Helen Knight one of Detroit’s leading ladies for decades.
At age 14, on his first day with a driver’s license, he rear-ended a police car probably leading to his successful legal career. Bob finished undergraduate and law school at University of Michigan in six years and after a stint with Army Intelligence during World War II, went on to be one of the premier trial lawyers in Detroit along with building an acceptable real estate portfolio. In addition, even at the age of 99, he could still pick a stock.
But most of all, everyone deeply loved and respected Bob for what was most important to him ….his kindness and warmth combined with a colossal sense of humor. He was just plain fun and when you were with him, you were laughing and the world lit up. Lights dimmed with his leaving us.
He joins Betty, his beautiful loving wife of 65 years with whom he precociously discussed marriage at the age of six. Although she turned him down then, they later closed the deal and spent 65 wonderful years not know as Bob or Betty but as Betty and Bob.
He leaves; Nancy Nobel Croisant, Al Croisant, Virginia Adams Knight, W. Bruce Knight and Daria Knight along with eight adoring grandchildren and seven tiny great grandchildren. He also leaves Martha Schmalenberger, Mattie Armstrong and Shelley Nowlin who lovingly and spectacularly cared for him during his last years …along with an incredible number of other angel caregivers.
The World will miss you Dad.
