Captain Robert “Bob” Lund signed off for the last time on October 9, 2025, completing his final solo flight. The sky was his second home. Bob flew for American Airlines & international flights for over 30 years. While we mourn his absence in our lives, he will always be in our hearts. We take comfort knowing he has clear skies and a perpetual tailwind.

Bob’s passion for planes started at a young age. He logged thousands of hours in the cockpit. To those who knew him, his spirit soared like a great eagle: boundless, smooth, and always ready for the next flight. In 2016, he built his own plane with help from some friends. He enjoyed many smooth flights in that plane taking friends up for a trip along the Florida coast. He traveled around the world countless times and enjoyed flying to Marblehead, Massachusetts.

Besides flying he was also a commander at the American Legion Post 39. He spent the last 3 years there, giving his service and making many meaningful friendships. He loved animals and always helped the strays. His dog “buddy” was his sidekick.

Bob is survived by his fiancé, Margie; furbaby- Buddy; his brothers; Steve (Janet) and John (Joann); and his sister, Andrea (Chip); nieces and nephews, Kim, Emily, Dan, Matt, Dorothy, George, Stephanie, and Hanna; and his sister-in-law, Shaun.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Dorothy; brothers, Jim and Mike; and his sister, Anna.

Bob had many friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. We will surely miss his warm smile and tales from the cockpit. Fly high and soar in the blue skies. “Keep the blue side up” forever captain.

My heart is heavy. We had so many hopes and dreams of exploring together. Our journey was cut short, but I’m forever grateful for our years together. I’m missing you every minute and hour of the day. I long to here your voice again. Buddy furbaby misses you also. Forever in our hearts. Fly free and be at peace. No more sickness, no more pain. We love you

Bob was a dear Soul. While we married way too young and did divorce , there were never harsh feelings between us. His first love was flying and I am so happy he had a life filled with it. Rest in peace dear friend.
