Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Rosalie passed away peacefully at home in Vero Beach, Florida on October 3rd. 2024, after a long and bravely fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease and its subsequent effects.
She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on January 27th, 1941 to Nora and Charles Boyd, both now deceased as is her sister Barbara, in-laws Tina and Charles Allen and granddaughter Sophie Allen. Surviving family include husband Charles (Ted) Allen, son Malcolm C. Allen and wife Eva, daughter Debbie L. DeLange and husband Phil, loving Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren all of whom had the privilege of knowing, cherishing and appreciating her for her sweet and graceful demeanor.
She attended Northlands School, Buenos Aires and graduated with a Cambridge University Overseas School Certificate and held various secretarial positions over the years including the British Embassy in Buenos Aires.
Rosalie and Ted married in January 1962 after dating for 8 years starting when she was 13 years old. In 1977 Ted was transferred by the US company he was managing, to their regional office in Miami. In 2003 both were privileged to be accepted as Citizens of this great Country and resided in Miami till 1989 when following the effects of “merger mania” prevalent in the 80s Ted’s company was sold and rather than remain in Miami, looked for new horizons to start a new life.
The choice of Vero Beach, Florida was easy to make, and to take advantage of Rosalie’s natural gift of floral designing, purchased Holiday House Designs, a long-established flower shop in Vero which prospered under her direction. She became a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD) and FTD Master Floral Designer. Following an offer we couldn’t refuse, Rosalie and Ted sold the shop in 2001.
Rosalie’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:00 am at The First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, FL.
