Ruby L. Shaffer, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2017 at VNA Hospice House.
She was born in Cooksville, IL to the late Joe and Mona (Ashley) Duncan. Ms. Shaffer has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1967, coming from Bloomington, IL.
Ruby was a member of Vero Christian Church. She was a devoted Mother and homemaker.
Survivors include her four children, James R. Duncan (Rita) of Morton IL, Bruce W. Duncan (Janine) of Vero Beach, Pamela E. Fish (Robert) of Temecula CA, Mona S. Hartley of Vero Beach; one sister, Alice Willis of FL; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William L. Shaffer; granddaughter, Tina Duncan-Larson; brother, Preston Duncan; sisters, Ida Floyd, Georgia Powell, and Josephine Duncan.
The family will hold a Celebration of Ruby’s life, 10:00 a.m., July 29, 2017 at Vero Christian Church.
