John Scott �Scotty� Holt, age 68, of Vero Beach, passed away on August 18, 2016, unexpectedly.
He was born October 1, 1947 in Crawfordsville, Indiana to parents, Cecil Lavon Holt and Kathryn Mae (Gregg) Holt.
Scotty moved to Vero Beach 26 years ago, coming from Darlington, Indiana.
He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, receiving the Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Metal, Vietnam Service Medal (3 stars), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal , and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Scotty attended Indiana Vocational Technical School, earning his Associates Degree in Applied Sciences.
He retired from the City of Vero Beach after 26 years of service as an electro-mechanic.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 39, Vero Beach and the Elks Lodge #1520 of Ft. Pierce.
Scotty is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Holt, two step-sons, Rev. Jesse M. (Holly) Crutchley of Severna Park, MD and Nicholas S. Crutchley of Vero Beach; and four grandchildren, Ellie, Jack, Nora, and Addison Crutchley.
Family will greet friends, Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 1:30 � 3 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service to follow at 3 p.m., at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, with Rev. Jesse M. Crutchley, officiating.
