Susan Nickol Straley, 83, died peacefully on December 6, 2024, in Vero Beach, FL.

She was born in York, PA to Clara and George Nickol, and for most of her life lived in Baldwin, MD before moving to Vero Beach, FL.

She met the love of her life, Keith, at York High School and after she graduated from Shippensburg State College, they were married.  Sue devoted her life to raising their three boys and keeping a spotless home.  When the nest was empty, she and Keith opened and operated Cousin Belle’s Antiques in Baldwin and Savage Mill, MD for almost 20 years.  Later in life, they discovered their love of cruise travel and took more than a dozen cruises around the world, including Alaska, the Panama Canal, and Russia. Between cruises, they spent as much time as possible with their seven beloved grandchildren.  After 57 inspiring years of marriage, she lost Keith to complications of Parkinson’s.

Survivors include beloved sons Jeffrey (Debra Watson), Timothy (Rebecca) and Craig (Peggy), adoring grandchildren Nicole Harrison (William), Elizabeth Pritchard (Adam), Heather, Gracelia, Alexandra, Sam and Georgia Straley, great-grandchildren Elliot J Pritchard, Jovey Harrison, and brother James (Anne) Nickol.

A memorial service will be held in April (date TBD) at Highview Memorial Gardens in Fallston, MD.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research Grand Central Station P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 US (www.michaeljfox.org)

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
