Sybilla passed away peacefully with her family by her side at 3:59 am December 13, 2023. Born in 1920, her life held untold memories of times long past. She recounted wonderful stories and bits of history only someone of 103 beautiful years could share. Some of the vendors still used horses and wagons. Electricity was just becoming a frequent household installation.

Sybilla was born in Paoli, Pennsylvania in a time of a quiet and simple life always with a focus on her God.  Attending Sunday School at Paoli Methodist Church, Paoli Elementary, T.E. Junior and High school in Berwyn, Penna graduating in 1938. She then went into nurses training at Chester County Hospital in West Chester Pennsylvania, graduating at the top of her glass in 1941. Nursing was her passion, and she became head nurse of the pediatric department in her Alma Mater, Chester County Hospital. Sybilla loved learning and went on to study Cardiac Intensive Care. Later she organized and headed up the utilization department of the hospital, writing procedures and creating the what and how to dos in coordination with the newly implemented Medicare program into the medical world.

Sybilla married in 1942 and she had two children. Her son Charles who sadly lived one day and her daughter Carol Elaine Swartz (Jobson).  She remarried to Albert R Hunt in 1971 and lived a very happy life in Malvern, Penna.

She and Albert moved to Florida in 1982. Albert had two daughters who preceded Albert and Sybilla in death. She found her church home with First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach. Her involvement was multi-faceted, participating in all she could, loving and living for God’s Glory.

Sybilla enjoyed good health into her later years, staying in her own home. Actively swimming, walking, reading, sewing, detailed handwork, cooking, heading committees for the church and willing to assist in whatever was asked of her. She was a joyful and happy woman sharing her love, wit and happiness without reserve. Sadly, in the last couple of years her eyes dimmed with advanced macular degeneration and loss of hearing.

Sybilla has preceded in death a daughter, Carol Swartz; a devoted and loving grandson, Jospeh Lukas and daughter– in–law, Tonya Lukas; 3 great-granddaughters and 6 great great grandchildren.

Sybilla was and is very loved, tremendously respected and will be greatly missed.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

Your mom always treated me so well. Never let me feel like I was from a poor family and included me in our childhood activities. Dad always made sure she could get to the hospital by plowing your driveway very early on snowy mornings. She was such a beautiful and gracious woman. So glad she had you as a daughter who cared for her till the end. What a blessing!
