VIOLA M. YATSKO (nee Goodell) of Vero Beach, Florida died at home on August 21st of ovarian cancer, four days after celebrating her 94th birthday with family and friends. Born on August 16, 1923 and formerly of Oldwick and Flemington, NJ, she relocated to Vero Beach in 1988 with her husband, Michael Yatsko. Viola, fondly known as Vi, lived a productive and satisfying life as wife, mother, sister, friend and a giving member of society.

Viola is survived by: three children, son Larry Yatsko (Cheryl Hunter) and daughters Cynda and Sheryl Yatsko; three grandchildren, Christopher and Kimberly Graham and Nicholas DelPaoli; two sisters, Ellen Fairbanks and Betty Cabot; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband of 56 years predeceased her in 2004.

Viola and Mike were married in 1947 when he returned from service in the Army Air Forces during WWII. She worked at the Flemington Egg Auction, Dorf Equipment, and Hunterdon County National Bank (later First Fidelity Bank) where she retired as Branch Manager after 18 years of service.

She was an avid member of the church her entire life, dating back to her years as a Sunday school teacher and later as Treasurer and President of the Women’s Club at Oldwick Methodist Church. Upon moving to Vero Beach she joined Lakewood Park United Methodist Church where she became part of the Helping Hands Committee and also served as Treasurer. She was a founding member of Sun-Up Inc., later part of ARC, which serves as an Adult Training Center for individuals with special needs.

After retirement, Viola was interested in genealogy and travel, taking trips to Slovakia, Germany, Egypt, Greece and Jerusalem. She always told her grandchildren, “Only boring people get bored.”

A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Lakewood Park United Methodist Church at a later date.

Donations may be made in her honor to the Lakewood Park United Methodist Church or the VNA Hospice in Vero Beach.
