Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
William “Billy” Columbus Driskell, Jr., age 81, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away on November 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 10, 1944, in Jupiter, Florida, to William Columbus Driskell, Sr. and Hazel Wynelle Simmons Driskell. He moved to Vero Beach as a toddler, and it became the place he proudly called home for the rest of his life.
Billy retired from Northrop Grumman after more than 40 years of service, where he worked as a Methods Engineer. He was respected by those he worked with, known for his patience, dedication, and willingness to lend a hand. Billy was a man of the Christian faith. He and his wife, MaryAnn, attended Genesis Church, where they found fellowship, community, and joy in worship together.
To everyone who knew him, Billy was first and foremost a devoted husband, father, PawPaw, brother, coach, and friend. He was deeply involved in his children’s lives—coaching their teams, cheering from the sidelines, and serving as President of the Little League. He continued supporting the league and high school sports long after his children were grown.
His family was always his priority. Wherever he was, you could count on hearing his laughter. He believed life was meant to be enjoyed, and jokes were simply part of who he was.
Billy adored his wife, MaryAnn. For 58 years, she was the love of his life. He cherished her wholeheartedly, and there was never a request of hers he would not say no to. Their devotion to one another was evident to all who knew them.
He is survived by his loving wife, MaryAnn Cameron Driskell; his children, W. Jeff Driskell (Heather Wallace), Michael S. Driskell (Pam), and Melissa R. Coleman (Chris); and his grandchildren, Samantha N. Driskell, Brandon T. Coleman, Coleman S. Driskell, Elisabeth R. Coleman, and W. Jaxson Driskell.
He is also survived by 8 siblings, along with many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hazel Driskell, and 1 sister. Billy will be remembered for his laughter, his kindness, his loyalty, his service to others, and his unwavering love for his family. He will be forever loved and deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Genesis Church, 3660 16th Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Genesis Church Building Fund in his memory.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23, May his laughter and love continue in all who knew him.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.
