Steve Hansen, long-time resident of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on April 14th at Indian River Hospital.
Steven George Hansen was born on October 3, 1953 in Geneva, New York. He was the first of five children born to George Vernon and Constance Sue Hansen.
Steve spent his early years in Idaho until 1964, when his dad was elected to Congress. The family moved to Arlington, Virginia.
Steve graduated from Washington-Lee High School in 1971.
He moved to Fort Pierce in the late 70’s and spent most of his adult life in the Vero Beach area.
Steve held many jobs over the years, including many working in the local school district printing office.
He is survived by his wife Kim; and his four younger siblings- Jim, Pat (Rielly), Bill (Kasi), and Joanne- all residing in Virginia. He is also survived by ten nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Steve very much.
Steve was as sweet and gentle soul as any the Lord has made.
Steve was a gifted artist. He enjoyed teaching Tai-Chi for many years. Steve’s passion was always music, and he loved to play bass guitar. He played in bands that toured the country. It was his greatest love. His favorite song, since being a young teenager, was always Jug Band Music by the Lovin Spoonful. It is one song he would always love to sing before audiences.
Nothing would tickle Steve more than if all who loved him would take a minute, play the song, turn it up loud, and sing along.
The family is planning on having a Celebration of Life for Steve, which will be scheduled at a later date.
Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
