Albert Minot “Pete” Eggeman, 89, of Vero Beach, Florida, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 29, 2013.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 25, 1923 to the late Minot George and Elizabeth Cartall Eggeman, Pete graduated from Washington University St. Louis in 1946 with a degree in Chemistry.

He worked for Rexall Drug Company in St. Louis and Boston, Massachusetts, Witco Chemical Company in New York, before moving to Florida where he was a stock broker with Reynolds�s and then owned a carpet cleaning business in Clearwater/St. Petersburg area where he resided for 37 years(from 1961-1998). Pete was involved with numerous philanthropic organizations in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area including the Clearwater Chamber of Commerce; Kiwanis; Rotary Club of Clearwater serving as President; and served as a Board Member for the Mease Hospital, Dunedin, Florida. He was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg and enjoyed cooking and serving the church’s Thanksgiving dinner to share with the community. Pete was on the Vestry of both St. John’s Episcopal Church in Clearwater and St. Bartholomew’s.

He retired to Vero Beach in 1998 and was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach.

Pete is survived by his wife, Beverly; three children, Linda Eggeman Swayne of Charlotte, NC, James Baird Eggeman of Clearfield, PA and Gail Lizabeth Eggeman of St. Petersburg; two step-daughters, Susan Parry of Texas and Jan Parry; five grandchildren, Lisa Swayne Proud and Heather Swayne Burns of Charlotte, NC, Kathy Eggeman Winnie of Endfield, Connecticut, Jenny Eggeman of Ohio, and Caroline Blume of Orlando, Florida, and three great grandchildren.

Services will be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to VNA Hospice of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
