After fighting a courageous battle against cancer, Barbara Jo Piedmont Pennell, 60, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on January 18, 2018 in Vero Beach. FL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Vero Beach Heritage Center on February 18, 2017 from 1-5 p.m. Words of remembrance and stories in regards to Barbara’s life will be shared at 2 p.m.
Barbara was born in Quantico Virginia on July 24, 1957 to Sallie and Joseph Piedmont.
She attended Vero Beach High School. Barbara went on to earn an Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from Indian River State College. After graduation, she began her Medical Technology career at Indian River Medical Center where she worked for 40 years, holding the title of Laboratory Data Coordinator for the past 12 years.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Jack Pennell of Vero Beach, her mother, Sallie Piedmont, sisters, Michelle Romano (Bill), Pamela Young, Carolyn Johnstone (Sean), Theresa Smith (Ellis), and her brother, Joseph A Piedmont, III, eight nieces and nephews, thirteen great nieces and nephews, loving in-laws .and great friends, Frances and Rick Herndon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A Piedmont, Jr. and nephew, Kevin Hamblin.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of VNA Hospice House for providing comfort and care to Barbara and her family during Barbara’s final days.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara to VNA Hospice House or the American Cancer Society.

I will never forget this beautiful and caring girl. I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up together from childhood to adults. She is one of our special angels now. My heart is with Jack, Sally, Michelle, Pam, Terri, Joe and the rest of her family and friends.
