Betty Jean Strickland, age 87, passed away June 12, 2018 at VNA Hospice House.
Born February 16, 1931 in Miami, Florida to the late Burton and Evelyn Herndon, she lived in Vero Beach for many years. She was a graduate of Barry University in Miami, Florida.
Betty was a homemaker, raising five boys. She was a strong, tireless, and capable woman.
Ms. Strickland was a member of First Baptist Church of Vero Beach.
Survivors include sons, Eugene Strickland of Bryson City, NC; Dr. James Strickland of Newport, NC; Roy Strickland of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Mary Lee Watkins of Allons, TN; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by brother, Julian Herndon; sister, Myrtis Herndon; sons, Gary Lee Strickland and Barry Lee Strickland.
The family will receive friends 10:00-11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m.
