With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dr. Craig Etts, a cherished husband, son, brother, uncle, and esteemed dentist. Craig passed away on March 2, 2024, in Sebastian, FL at the age of 65. Born in Fort Lauderdale, FL on April 15, 1958, to Stephen Craig Etts and his late mother Joan Selley Rehard, Craig was known for his compassionate nature and unwavering dedication to his family and profession.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those he touched.

Craig is survived by his devoted wife, Marjorie Theresa Etts; loving father, Steven Craig Etts; caring stepmother Edie Etts; supportive stepfather Carl Rehard; his sisters & brother Debbie Brooks Shainline (Richard), Terri Howard, Donna Duttenhaver, Mike Duttenhaver (Chrissy) and many nieces and nephews, who he treasured. Craig is also survived by Marjorie’s family, who will forever celebrate the countless, joyful moments, and immeasurable fond memories he brought into our lives.

Craig was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Rehard. His love extended beyond people as he also adored animals, particularly his cherished kitties, whom he loved and spoke of often.

He was a pillar of strength for each member of the family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

After attending Emory Dental School in Atlanta, GA, Craig embarked on a remarkable career in dentistry. He returned to South Florida and several years later Craig purchased his own practice where he became known not just for his exceptional dentistry, but also for the warmth and compassion that he extended to each of his patients. He was a mentor to many, sharing his knowledge and experience with aspiring dental professionals and was often called upon to speak to medical and dental students about his professional journey and the keys to building a successful practice. Craig’s educational journey began at Florida State University, where he not only dedicated himself to his studies but also became a fervent supporter of FSU football. His passion for the team was only rivaled by his loyalty and enthusiasm for the Miami Dolphins. Craig’s university years laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence. Craig’s legacy is not only in the beautiful smiles of his patients, but also in the lives he inspired through his dedication to service, animals, and community involvement.

Besides his professional achievements and his love for sports, Craig and Marjorie enjoyed spending time outdoors together, whether it was a day boating and fishing or simply a quiet afternoon relaxing on the beach. His spirit of adventure and zest for life were contagious, leaving lasting memories. The world has lost an extraordinary individual whose impact will continue to resonate through the lives he touched forevermore. His legacy of kindness, professional excellence, and passion for life will continue to inspire and influence many.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 12-4 p.m. at the Long Key Nature Center Assembly Hall, 3501 SW 130 Ave, Davie, FL 33330.

Feel free to wear your favorite Tommy Bahama or any tropical attire in honor of Craig.

The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in loving memory of Dr. Craig Etts, to Treasure Coast Wildlife Center, 8626 Southwest Citrus Blvd., Palm City, FL 34990.

Arrangements are by Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, Vero Beach.

I just reconnected with Dr Etts after a long time away. I was one of his first patients when he practiced under the wonderful Dr Ziemba. Came back to him recently to have bridge made for my implants. He was so compassionate and kind. He welcomed me with open arms and lots of kisses. I will sadly miss his smile, happy face and welcome arms and beautiful dental work. I am so sorry the loss of such a wonderful man.

Their will never be a more gentle dentist & friend! He treated me with such awesome kindness & professionalism. He was also MY CUSTOMER as he purchased his three Maine Coons from me & had them groomed at my grooming shop. He really loved those kitties! He was truly a “one of a kind human being” that no one could ever replace. In my heart he is still alive with his smile & his love of nature & the ocean!
