Mrs. McGillivray, born in Hammond, Indiana, was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Indiana University in 1941.

In 1941, Bette married Lt. Robert Paterson Hall. They lived in Ft. Riley, Kansas where he was on the faculty of the Cavalry School. In 1981, the Halls retired and moved to their summer home at Crystal Lake in Frankfort, MI. They spent the winters in Stuart and Port St. Lucie before moving to Sand Piper Bay, in 1986.

In 1990, they moved to Indian River Estates in Vero Beach. When Bob Hall died in 1992, Bette remained in Vero Beach where she was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the Treasure Coast Alumnae chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

In 1985, she married Bob McGillivray and together they traveled to over thirty countries in seven years.

She is survived by her son, Douglas Weston Hall, and his wife Marilyn of South Salem, NY.
