Frederick “Fred” Brandt was born on March 27, 1939 in Fitchburg Massachusetts, the younger child of Lillian and Arnold Brandt. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Brandt Hough and her daughter and husband, Nicole and Gerry Wakeman.

Fred is also survived by his wife Margaret “May” Delafield Brandt and their son Matthew A. Brandt and wife Andrea Radtke of Maryland as well as his son Lt. Col. Edward R. Brandt and his fiancee Erika Macdonald of Michigan.

Fred married May in 1963 after they met as students at Stanford Univ., Stanford CA. Fred graduated the same year with his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He received his Masters degree in Business Administration from Long Island University and his PhD. From Arizona State University.

He taught at Arizona State Univ., Portland State Univ., Long Island Univ., and the Russell Sage Colleges Graduate School in Albany New York. He was also the founding director of the Russell Sage MBA program. He enjoyed delighting students with his quick wit and innovative ways of involving students in their own learning experience. He was a great athlete and musician and loved tennis, and golf, winning many club tournaments, as well as singing in numerous choruses and choirs over the years.

He was a member of The Nissequogue Point Beach Club, and a member of the Congregational Church of Huntington, NY. Here in Vero Beach he attended the Community Church. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial celebration for family and friends will be held on Long Island at a later date. To honor Freds life, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson Association of Vero Beach or the Senior Resource Association of Vero Beach.

He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
