I am heartbroken by the loss of Lang. Our bond started back in EMT and medic school, long before we were officially hired together with Indian River County in 2015. I’ll never forget renting that timeshare together for a whole week during the testing process—quizzing each other endlessly, pushing one another, and making sure we both crossed that finish line side by side. Walking through that hiring ceremony together is a memory I will always cherish.
Even though we were assigned to different shifts over the years, anytime our paths crossed, it was like no time had passed. We’d catch up on our shifts, check in on each other, and talk about our families—something I know meant the world to him.
Lang was a dedicated professional, a true brother, and above all, a devoted family man. My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies go out to Nicole, James, Kenzie, his parents, and the entire family during this impossibly difficult time. Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.

I had the honor of meeting Geoff when I first started dating his uncle. Even at such a young age, it was clear that he had a special gift for caring for others. He couldn’t have been more than four or five years old when he received a doctor’s kit, and he invited me to be his patient, even though we barely knew each other at the time.
Geoff took his role very seriously. He knew all the right things to do. He examined me, diagnosed my ailments, patched me up, and then cured everything with what he believed was the best medicine of all… a big hug.
A few years later, when I married his uncle, I officially became his aunt and had the privilege of watching him grow into an incredible young man who pursued his goals and achieved his dreams. Through all the years, one thing never changed: Geoff always greeted me with a warm smile and a hug whenever he saw me.
Looking back, I realize that little boy with the doctor’s kit never really changed. His kindness, compassion, and desire to care for others remained at the heart of who he was.
Geoff, may the love that so many people have for you surround you now like one of your unforgettable hugs. You were truly loved, and you will be deeply missed. ❤️
