George William “Bill” Cunningham III, age 79, passed away May 24, 2018 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Born in St. Louis, MO he grew up in Chatham, NJ. Bill moved to Naples in 1995. He attended Vanderbilt University, served in the U.S. Army and graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in nuclear engineering. His career was spent in Oak Ridge, TN, at Union Carbide Corp. where he designed nuclear power plants. Bill was an avid fisherman (always catch & release) and loved Mother Nature and all her creatures. He was also an aviation buff and a crossword puzzle expert. Survivors include his sister, Elizabeth C. McKeever of Vero Beach and her husband, Steven; five adored nieces and nephews; as well as ten grand nieces and nephews. Mr. Cunningham was predeceased by his parents, Christine Siegmund and George William Cunningham and his brother, Thomas Knox Cunningham. Funeral services will be private.
