Ivan Martin Ford (Known as Marty), 83, died peacefully on January 4, 2019 in Vero Beach, Florida. Born to Ivan Ford and Mavis Joan MacDonald, of Shandaken, New York, on July 5, 1935 in Kingston, New York.

He grew up in Fleischmanns and Margaretville, New York graduating from Margaretville High School in 1953. He attended Hofstra College before enlisting in the Air Force in 1954. Following his discharge from the Air Force in 1958 he entered Michigan State University, graduating in Criminal Justice in 1961. While at Michigan State he met his future wife Beverly Fields, who also attended the University. Following graduation he entered the Secret Service as a Special Agent and served on the protective detail for Presidents Kennedy and Johnson. In 1964, he left the Secret Service to go into private business. In 1972, he joined the FBI as a Special Agent serving in Kansas City, Houston, Washington DC and Louisville, Kentucky, where he retired in 1988. After retiring he went into private investigating. Following their move to Florida in 1992, Marty was appointed to the Florida Bar Examiners. He was also selected to serve on the Florida Bar Citizens Review Committee and the Florida Ethics Commission. He was a member of the U.S. Power Squadron, loved boating and golf. He was a proud member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI and the Association of Former Agents of the US Secret Service. Marty was an active member at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach, Florida.

Marty is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly; three children: Elizabeth Vermilyea (John), Marcia Seiler (Michael) and Martin Ford (Jane); 6 grandchildren: Taylor and Jacob, Anna and Kate, and Stella and Lola; his sister and brother Marcia Geehrer and Douglas Ford; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Brenda and Robert Sheridan and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on February 9, 2019 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach, Florida at 11:00 a.m. Internment at a later date at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach, Florida or VNA Hospice, Vero Beach, Florida.
