James Johns Gustine, Vero Beach, Florida, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Cleveland Clinic in Vero Beach. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Franklin J. Gustine and Opal Johns Gustine Peterson. He married Carolyn Polousky in 1959. He married Kay Stevens in 1972.

Surviving are his daughters; Jennifer (Steve) Ator, Danville, Illinois, Cynthia (Scott) Sherman, Pine, Colorado, Joanna (Steve) Streb, Iowa City, Iowa, Michael (Liz) Stevens, Thorton, Colorado, Chrystal (Jeff) Poplett, Galesburg, Illinois, ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. A nephew, Jerry (Lori) Gustine, Colorado Springs, Colorado, also survives. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Franklin Gustine.

Jim graduated from Galesburg High School and attended Knox College. He served in the U.S. Marines. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 37 years and was an active member of UTU. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Lake Bracken Country Club when he resided in Galesburg.

Cremation will be accorded per his request. Services are pending.
