Jane Burr Dailey Frost, 101, of Vero Beach, Florida and Fairfield, Connecticut, died at her Vero home on January 2, 2018. She was born in Darien, CT Dec. 4, 1916 and grew up in Manhattan.

Little in stature but possessing an enormous inner strength, Jane faced many of life’s challenges and hardships with great fortitude, grit and determination, while always looking beautiful and impeccably put together. She married her brother’s roommate, Donald Frost, and he remained the love of her life for 63 years until his death. Together they partook in the glory days of the advertising business and all that it entailed during the “Mad Men ” era.

An avid discount shopper, she spent many hours at her favorite haunts and never found a bargain she could resist. But her favorite store was the hardware store. She was interested in how things work and loved to solve whatever puzzle might present itself. The same was true with her daily New York Times, read cover to cover only after she’d completed the crossword puzzle in pen. She loved her 1,000’s of books, but also loved Judge Judy and often planned her day around that broadcast.

She was a dedicated volunteer, serving on The Women’s Board of Norwalk Hospital for over 57 years and driving herself weekly down I95 for work at the hospital’s Treasure House until she was 98.

She enjoyed sailing, tennis and golf and was a member of The Country Club of Fairfield, The Moorings Yacht and Country Club, Hawk’s Nest Golf Club in its early years, Saugatuck Shores Beach Club, and a former member of Cedar Point Yacht Club and New York Yacht Club.

The granddaughter of New York Supreme Court Justice William P. Burr, Jane was predeceased by her husband Donald, her brother Burr Dailey, and her son Anthony Frost. She is survived by her daughter Robin Bessin ((Stephen), daughter-in-law Stephanie Frost, grandchildren Christopher Dawson, Alexandra Dawson (Gregory Gricus), Ian Frost and Morgan Frost, and great grandchildren Penelope Gricus, Luke Dawson, Simon Gricus and Gabriella Dawson.

The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers Kathleen Leigh and Lenore Short.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution to VNA, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 or Treasure House, 5 Isaacs St., Norwalk, CT 06850 would be appreciated.
A service will be scheduled at a later date.
