Joan Judith Nash , age 93, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 11, 2018. She is survived by her 4 children: Christine (Patrick) Finley, Timothy Nash (Meredyth), Kevin Nash (Carol), and Jonathan Nash (Teri); 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, a good friend, an avid reader and writer – she sewed, cooked, entertained, had a zest for life, and was an inspiration to her family.

Joan was born in New York City on September 6, 1925, to Helen and Harold Ganun. She married George Nash in 1947 and together they raised 4 children in Setauket, NY. When the children were grown, Joan worked at Stony Brook University as an Administrative Assistant to the head of the Energy Management Training Program.
Over the years she was a dedicated volunteer: Girl Scout leader, den mother, Red Cross, nurse’s aide, local Sheriff’s Office, and Crisis Line operator.

Joan and George moved to Vero Beach in the early 80’s to get away from the NY winters. Her husband worked at Piper and Joan got a job at Indian River Hospital. They both loved Vero, and spent lots of time exploring and enjoying Florida. She was appreciated and loved at her final home, Willowbrooke Court, and will be missed and remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial service and reception will be held Saturday, February 24, 11 a.m., at Willowbrooke Court, Indian River Estates.

A funeral mass and reception will be held at St. John of the Cross, Monday, February 26, 10 a.m. No flowers; donations to the charity of your choice.
