John Dario Benoit, lovingly known as “Johnny,” 52, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, after losing his battle with cancer.
Born on October 18, 1973, in Norwich, Connecticut, Johnny was the son of John H. Benoit and Debra L. Benoit of Killingly, Connecticut.
Johnny was a truly amazing person whose kindness, humor, creativity, and sarcastic wit touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was extremely talented, caring, and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
Johnny had many passions throughout his life. He loved gaming, drawing, reading, and golf, but one of the greatest loves of his life was animals. He had a special place in his heart for them, especially his beloved Mason. His compassion for animals was just one of the many things that showed the gentle and caring person he was.
Johnny treasured his friendships and considered many of his friends to be family. He created lasting memories with the people around him and was loved by many. His laughter, humor, creativity, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Johnny is survived by his parents, John H. and Debra L. Benoit of Killingly, CT; his sister, Debi Coutu and her husband, Paul, of Vero Beach, FL; his brother, Jeffrey Benoit of Killingly, CT; his nephews, Drew Libby and Aidan Coutu of Vero Beach, FL; his great-niece, Aurora Libby; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were like family to him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert A. Benoit and Blanche I. Benoit; his maternal grandparents, Roger G. Laperle and Madeline G. Laperle.
A celebration of Johnny’s life will be held on September 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory, 1655 27th Street, Vero Beach, Florida.
Johnny was loved by many and will be missed by all. Though his life was far too short, the love, laughter, kindness, and memories he gave to others will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He will never be forgotten.

I imagine John heading to the Rainbow Bridge in Heaven and taking all the beloved dogs that passed, on a packwalk on the streets of gold. ❤️ John will be loved and missed by all his kindness touched, and we cherish the beautiful drawings he did of our dog Emma, that is hanging on our wall. Until we meet again, I know that will be watching over our furry friends that are in Heaven with you ❤️
